Temple Trading promotes time honoured skillsand knowledge that have spanned centuries, continents and cultures and have been preserved by a handful of artisans in the world today. We work closely with skilled artisans to create an elegant life style.
Our collection features a range of Heritage Handpainted Chinoiserie furniture and accessories. Chinoiserie is an artform that originates from the late 17th Century.It was inspired by the opulence and mysticism of the Far East. Our designs are inspired by the fusion of cultures and their interpretations.
Our collection of Vintage tube line tiles and gifts are produced from an original British tile factory, that fell into disuse some 50 years ago. The tiles are hand made using the same methods and techniques that were used to make the original tube line tiles of the 19th Century, producing tiles that are indistinguishable in appearance from the originals. A range of interior accessories and gifts have been crafted using the tiles.
Our soft furnishings collection features crewel embroidery and chain stitched rugs which display skills that have migrated from the East to Egypt, Greece and travelled further west with the Romans. This migration of cultures is evident in the design and production of the fabrics and rugs.
About Our Materials - We are concious about the environment, hence all our wooden items come from renewable sources. Our fabrics are made using organic cotton and natural dyes. The tile making process and paints used for our Chinoiserie pieces have been selected for their low chemical levels.
About Our Suppliers - We work directly with our suppliers, who range from small to large family business, they all share a common criteria that is they have developed their skills over generations. Geopgraphically our suppliers stretch from Florence (Italy), Kashmir and Rajasthan (India). Our close relationship with our suppliers ensures we can undertake bespoke work.
About Our Services - We have a London based design workshop that is able to meet customer's individual requirements. We are happy to send out sample fabric swatches, tiles or detailed photographs and designs. We also offer an interior design service. Please contact us with your requirements.
